Event with Kristin Ross 15.-16.4.2026
The Commune Form: The Transformation of Everyday Life
“When the state recedes, the communes flourish. This is as true now as it was in Paris in 1871. Contemporary struggles over land—from the ZAD at Notre-Dame-des-Landes to Cop City in Atlanta, from the pipeline battles in Canada to France’s Soulèvements de la Terre – have reinvented practices of appropriating lived space and time. The result is a transformation win our understanding of the recent past.“
The Philosophy Department at the University of Applied Arts, in cooperation with the Department of Art History at the University of Vienna, is pleased to present a 2 part event with Kristin Ross, Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature at New York University (NYU).
