Antonia Birnbaum und Amanda Holmes, von der Abteilung Philosophie der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, nahmen am 14. Juni 2023 an der Tagung “Untimely Imagination” in Zagreb, Kroatien, teil, die von Nathan Brown und Peter Millar organisiert wurde.
Diese Tagung trifft sich mit der philosophischen Orientierung, die von uns bestritten wird. In der Nachfolge der Tagung zu den “Nachleben des Transzendentalen” die im Oktober 2022 an der Universität der angewandten Kunst stattfand, und die gemeinsam mit der Abteilung Kunsttheorie organisiert wurde, geht es nochmals darum, die Verschränkungen und Verschiebungen zwischen Kunst und Ästhetik zu erkunden, die erstmals in der kantischen Einbildungskraft als Problem erscheinen. Das Unzeitgemässe an diese Frage (“Untimely Imagination”), steht im engen Zusammenhang mit der Reihe der Abteilung, “Das Unzeitgemäße der Kunst”, in der jedes Jahr ein Künstler eingeladen wird, um diese Dimension an seine Arbeit zu erhellen. Im kommenden Wintersemester wird der Künstler Henning Bohl unser Gast sein.

This conference coincides with the philosophical orientation that is disputed by us. This conference coincides with our philosophical orientation. In the follow-up to the conference on the „Afterlife of the Transcendental“, which took place in October 2022 at the University of Applied Arts, and which was organized together with the Department of Art Theory, the aim is once again to explore the entanglements and shifts between art and aesthetics, which for the first time appear as a problem in the Kantian imagination. The untimely nature of this question („Untimely Imagination“) is closely related to the department’s series, „The Untimely of Art“, in which an artist is invited every year to shed light on this dimension of his work. In the coming winter semester, the artist Henning Bohl will be our guest.
